Jacinda was a Star Captain in the Wolf Empire touman.

History[edit]

Dark Age Era[edit]

Jacinda's sibko instructors told her during training that she would never amount to anything. Her test scores, barely one step above washing out, mediocre at most, apparently confirmed it. Her Trial of Position, where she achieved a single kill before falling under her most critical instructor's fire, supported it. As active warrior, Jacinda was shuffled from one garrison command to another, but with her successful retests proved her instructors wrong: she had a strong desire to remain a Clan Wolf Warrior.[1]

When Khan Alaric Ward and nearly all of Clan Wolf's warriors invaded Terra in 3151, Jacinda had attained the rank of Star Captain, proving she was better than a simple solahma, but sometime before the departure, she was wounded, losing her right leg. As she chose to have it regrown, she was left in the Empire's world of Campbelton.[2]

ilClan Era[edit]

Eight months after the Clan Wolf touman departure, Jacinda already had a full new leg but was still in rehab when, on 8 August, an Elemental-turned-constable named Vivienne informed her of the arrival of huge JumpShip fleets at both jump points of the system. Fearing it was an attack, Jacinda abandoned the gym and ran to organize a resistance force.[3]

Jacinda's fears were correct: the arriving fleets were carrying the dependents and survivors of Wolf's Dragoons, who were searching for revenge after their casualties on Terra and the insult of Alaric Ward. The elite Tarantulas Battalion descended on the planet to raid and loot the Fusigon Heavy Weaponry factory. They expected an easy fight, like their previous assault on New Olympia, but instead encountered heavy resistance.[4]

Jacinda had been the only active Wolf warrior on the planet, but she managed to find more: recruiting solahma, sibko trainers and even the local constabulary forces, she received the Dragoons with a rain of fire; Star Commander Kang-hee, ignored her orders and charged the Tarantulas, apparently wounding or killing their leader. Using battlesuits, Long Tom artillery units and about a dozen 'Mechs, she managed to hold against the Dragoons' attacks.[5]

The Tarantulas were hit hard, with about fourteen dead and more wounded, including two of their key officers. The adaptive tactics of Jacinda surprised the Dragoons, but the defender casualties still mounted; cut off from the factory, they couldn't replace their losses or repair damage.[6]

But then, luck smiled at Jacinda – the Tarantulas broke off their attack and retreated off world. The Dragoons' leader, Colonel Henry Kincaid, decided that a few boxes of weapons weren't worth the losses and ordered a withdrawal, conceding Jacinda the first victory of the Wolves against Dragoons, though a minor one.[7]

Star Colonel Othar, the Empire's viceroy, saw her potential, and as reward for her victory, he promoted Jacinda to Star Colonel, giving her command of the newly formed Ninety-fourth Wolf Battle Cluster, part of Lupus Galaxy.[1]

The Cluster, composed of old solahma warriors who had been reinstated, began painting a crimson stripe on their 'Mech's left torso, uncomfortably similar to a BloodRibbon. Jacinda officially discouraged the practice, but didn't prohibit it either.[8]

BattleMech[edit]

Jacinda's only known 'Mech was a Night Wolf.[4]
