Star League Era
The regiments of the Lyran Regulars were prone to being disbanded and reactivated as needed; each time a regiment was reactivated, it would be populated with a mix of reenlisted veterans and fresh recruits, before being assigned to a garrison posting to free up a line regiment for active service. During peacetime, the Regulars would then draw down to a much smaller size as a brigade, awaiting the next time they would be called on. The Twelfth Lyran Regulars were an active command in 2765, but the Commanding Officer of the Twelfth was keeping in close contact with the command staff of the Tenth Lyran Regulars, as the Tenth had been merged with the Seventh Lyran Regulars in 2762, and it was suspected that the Twelfth would soon be merging into the Tenth as well.[1]

In 2813, the planet Bella I was attacked by two commands from the Regulan Hussars. The Twelfth Regulars defended the world together with their sister regiment, the Fourteenth. The LCAF units retreated off-world because they thought the FWLM task force had twice as much strength. When the officer realized it was only a trick, it was too late. Marik reinforcements fortified the planet further.[2] 36 months later the LIC discovered that the garrison had changed as a result of internal conflicts in the Free Worlds League. The Twelfth and Fourteenth were send to recapture the world. Under a new commanding officer, the Marik forces retreated after 21 days of trench warfare.
