Overview
The 162nd Mechanized Infantry Division was a part of the Star League Defense Force Regular Army.
History
In the two decades prior to 2764, the division had replaced all light BattleMechs with fast, heavy machines. They were reported as having two full battalions of Awesomes in its 119th Heavy Assault Regiment alone.[1]
The unit's official history states that the 162nd had "never broken in combat or exercise." Unofficially, many criticized the unit for their tendency to "stubbornly die in place."[1]
In 2764, the unit was assigned, as a part of the XLVI Corps, Nineteenth Army, to the Periphery Military Region, but was moved to an undisclosed area of the Periphery by 2765, to take part in the Periphery Uprising.[2] The 162nd was destroyed during the Hegemony Campaign.[2]

Tactics
The Mechanized Infantry Divisions of the Star League were used offensively to exploit gaps in the enemy front created by the BattleMech Divisions. They also bore the brunt of defensive actions.
Composition History
The Division comprised two Brigades of Mechanized Infantry and a single BattleMech Brigade. Also attached was a Ground Aero Wing.[4]
