Unit Description
The 1st Alarion Jaegers was a House Steiner house unit formed during mid 31st Century under reign of Archon-Princess Katrina Steiner-Davion. The unit was formed to protected the Alarion province of the Lyran Alliance after that House Steiner incarnation formed. The unit is unsual due to its Combine Arms configuration in comparison to other Regiments in the LAAF at its formation.
History
Formation
The 1st Alarion was formed from various units from Lyran military, formed as part of Archon's Order 573023. With permission of LAAF high command, the 1st Alarion's Colonel Hoffman worked closely with build solid relationship with Alarion Naval Academy and War College of Buena. From these relations, the unit was able cull many of the top students from these schools to positions in the Regiment. However, the unit's Wing has negated its zero-g skills, suffered downgrading of status two of its three squadrons.
Operation Clean Sweep
After their formation, the unit undertook many civil defense actions on Alarion try to curb rebel activity on planet. One such civil action of note was Operation Clean Sweep, was conducted August of 3062. Rioting had been ensuing the capital city of Craiova which esclated out of control. The 1st Alarions and Alarion APM was were dispatch to bring the situation undercontrol. Three infantry personal from the unit's infanty companies were killed and dozen injured after taking fire from the rioters. Colonel Hoffman then order the arrest and incarceration of three hundred civilians suspects, which triggered outcry from the public. Though since protests against the LAAF and Archon have calmed down, Colonel was attacked by media with character assasination and invading her privacy.[1]
Since that time, the Colonel feeling the unit was ill-suite for civil actions such as policing the public, has request for transfer. She has requested provincial commander Hauptmann-General Peter Zenger to be sent to garrison Mountain Wolf BattleMechs on world of Vendrell.
FedCom Civil War
Jihad
Severely mauled by FedCom events, Alarion Jaegers been on Alarion, when Word of Blake taskforce hit Alarion, and been totally erased by nuclear strikes from orbit outside of planet's capital city. Later planet been sterilised by blakist's bioweapon. No survivors left.
Officers
As of 3062 the commanding officer of the unit was Colonel Julie Hoffman.
Tactics
The unit has developed its combat doctrine around the use of Combined Arms. Using unit's two infanty companies and single Armor Company to pin down the enemy, while 'Mech Battalions would attack enemy from flanks or rear. The unit's air Wing is highly profient air-ground attacks.
