The Twenty-third York Regulars was originally one of the household regiments of the Duke of York, but in the twenty-seventh century the Duke of York made an attempt to secede his region from the Lyran Commonwealth. The Twenty-third and two sister regiments chose to side with the Commonwealth, and as a result when the brigade was sundered, the Twenty-third survived.
