History
The Fifth Rattle Cluster was formed in 3068 as part of the Steel Viper military reforms. The Rattle clusters were an experimental combined-arms formation. By February 3069, the Fifth had been assigned to Beta Galaxy when Galaxy Commander Angelica Zalman bid it in defense of the petroleum farm and silver mines near Contock on Marshall against an attack by Clan Jade Falcon. The flank attack by the Fifth caught the Falcon’s Second Velites totally by surprise and inflicted heavy casualties allowing the Vipers to win the Trial.[1]
The final fate of the Fifth Rattle Cluster is not known, but they would not have survived the destruction of Beta Galaxy or that of Clan Steel Viper in 3075.[2]
