In 3019 three regiments from the DCMS or mercenaries under their employee - including the Twelfth Star Guard - were attempting to rebuild and reorganize on Fallon II. The AFFS surprised the DCMS forces on Fallon II by launching a raid using McKinnon's Raiders, a subcommand of the Seventh Crucis Lancers, to strike at Fallon II, intent on destroying or disabling factories and mines on the metal-rich but air-poor world. It was during the raid by McKinnon's troops that Tai-i Mercer Ravannion attempted to prove his theory that hordes of light 'Mechs would prove more viable as combat forces than smaller numbers of heavier 'Mechs... an attempt that proved to be a failure in what was recorded as the Battle of Markerson.[1]
