History
The Burning Tygers were a mercenary unit around the time of the Amaris coup. They occupied the world of Helen for the Amaris Empire where they ransacked the world's huge artistic community and outright murdered at least a hundred thousand civilians during the occupation, razing whole cities and taking everything of value for themselves.[1]
When Helen was reconquered by the SLDF under Aleksandr Kerensky in 2772, the XXXIV Corps (Star League) gave the mercenary defenders no quarter and by 2773 had wiped them out.[2]
Context strongly implies that the Burning Tygers were among the roughly eight divisions of mercenaries that Stefan Amaris used to secure his iron grip over the realm after his coup, though who exactly technically hired them is not spelled out.
