History

Since its formation in the 3050s, the Clean Kill was driven by the egotism and personality of Major Phormes Bullard, its creator. His leadership created an aggressive fighting force, but one that regularly suffered from internal strain and poor relations with its employers. In late 3067, shortly after accepting a contract with the Calderon Protectorate (before their Taurian Concordat contract had even expired) the Unit had nearly attacked the Concordat’s 2nd Taurian Guards during a pirate raid on Althea's Choice. Captain Helen Narbon of the Kill’s Bludgeon Company had run her Charger through the planetary governor’s mansion which lead to a standoff and furious negotiations with the TDF. Captain Narbon was arrested to face manslaughter charges, which lead the Calderon Protectorate (in a rare show of support for its estranged countrymen) to cancel the contract offer. With Narbon’s conviction and sentence, the loss of his closest confidants drove Major Bullard to heavy drinking. The termination of their new contract and end of their stay in Concordat space caused bouts of internal friction to come to blows among the rest of the mercenaries. On 21 January 3068, everything came crashing down when Bullard OD'ed on sleeping pills and Aldebaran whiskey.

Without a clear successor to lead them, the Kill came apart as all four of the command’s company leaders claimed the role for themselves. The divided commands withdrew from their base, seized a chunk of the command’s supplies, and soon where attempting to kill one another. Only when HQ Company’s Sniper lance defected with CWO Michael Board, to join his lover, Capt. Kailynn O’Reilly, and her Crush Company, did the tide of power finally shift. With most of the Kill’s artillery under her control, O’Reilly made a last push against her rivals. Capt. Charles Stanworth and his Assassin Company were crushed by Capt. Shahna Richman, and the skilled city fighters of Bludgeon Company in the town of Hamford. Reportedly, while trapped in the city, Richman cornered Stanworth and tried to get him to surrender, but was forced to kill Stanworth when he refused. With Standworth’s death, however, Richman managed to convince most of Assassin Company to join her faction. Despite lacking the firepower of Bludgeon Company, Richman’s forces had the advantages of both mobility and surprise and they managed to use both. Capt. Shahna Richman then threw the remains of Assassin Company in a strike at the remnains of HQ and Crush Companies. In the new fighting, the assault ’Mechs of HQ Company attempted to close with the Assassins while Crush Company tried to pull back and use its artillery against the larger units. After an hour of prolonged conflict, both forces were heavily battered when Richman’s Bludgeon forces showed up. Unable to defend against the fresh troops, O’Reilly and the remainder of HQ Company surrendered rather than die.

With the end of combat, the Kill agreed to unify under the command of now-Major Richman, with Capt. O’Reilly as the unit’s XO. Newly promoted Captains Jennifer Rettig and Brent Potter now lead the Assassin and Bludgeon Companies. Though the Kill’s techsupport managed to restore alot of the damage, the vicious fighting and accompaning damage prompted the Taurian government to order the Kill expelled from Concordat space. Desperate negotiations by O’Reilly saved the unit from being made bandits by offering a compromise of reparations to the local Althea's Choice government in exchange for a revised contract. Citing the Concordat’s thin defenses and the avowed end of all the Clean Kill’s internal troubles, Maj.O’Reilly managed to keep the Kill off the Wanted lists. [1]

Officer

Major Phormes Bullard was a leader with a colorful taste in clothing.

Thanks to swift bargining and a firm hand, Major Richman has turned the Kill around. But recovering from its near destruction will take more effort and resourcefulness of the command’s support staff. But they have made it, recovering almost their full strength in the two years since the dispute. CWO Board and his artillery forces have been folded into O’Reilly’s Crush Company, making it a pure vehicular force, while the Crush’s Catapults have been moved over into HQ Company for an all-’Mech force, like the Assassin Company. Crush Company now serves as the anchor force for the battalion, while the HQ Company serves as their mobile support. The Assassin company acts as scouts for Bludgeon Co.[2]

Tactics

The command uses every possible trick (long range bombardment with mass fire) regardless of civilan casualties. Close combat is another preferred tactic .

Support

The unit have enough techs for the daily repairs and have sufficient DropShip support.
