Curtain was a Clanner MechWarrior, ad-hoc commander of the Condors, and finally, recruit of the mercenary unit Gray Death Legion.

History

There isn't much data about Curtain's origins; he said to be a Freeborn, son of one or two warriors. At least one of his fathers, probably his mother, must have been an Elemental which fell to a lower caste, and he inherited her size. Following his mother's steps, he became a warrior, but eventually get tired to being at the bottom of his caste, and left his Clan, with his 'Mech. He eventually settled on the planet Crimond, migrating to the continent of Condor. Sometime later, he meet a Clan Sea Fox Merchant, selling him his 'Mech and some Star League relics from Condor's Fort Beaufort, obtaining in exchange a Regent 'Mech. Curtain spend a lot of time on Condor. He didn't want to be a leader or a warrior, but with his experience and 'Mech, he became the de facto leader of the Condor's irregular militia.[1]

Sometime during January of 3152, he heard than the Falcon's control of the planet had ended, and a new masters had arrived into the main continent, so he traveled there to search info. The 21 of the same month, he returned in a fishing boat to Condor. There he was received and driven home by his friend Any Ishikawa. He informed her about his findings: the end of the Clan Jade Falcon domination and the arrival of the reborn Tamar Pact.[2]

Curtain feared for his people of Condor, expecting the arrival of the invaders. It didn't had to expect for long: the 4 February, a Union-Class DropShip arrived, landing into the Fort's landing pad. He went with his 'Mech to receive them, and the Condor Defense Force followed him for his own initiative, with several tanks and infantry. The invaders were the mercenary Gray Death Legion, but they didn't engage the condors. Instead, their leader, Isobel Carlyle, talked with Curtain, the Condor leader, and both agreed to negotiate face to face.[3]

Curtain later meet Isobel and five of her soldiers into South Six, a local cantina-restaurant. He wasn't very talkative about his past -he didn't even said which Clan was born in- but showed how deeply he knew the Condor's people and appreciated them. He began respecting Carlyle, and offered her to tour Fort Beaufort, the base the Legion were supposed to take control of.[4]

After the meeting, Curtain talked with Ishikawa, telling her than the Legion seemed reasonable, but both talked about the possibility of having to fight them if it was necessary.[5]

After Curtain, some of his people, including Ishikawa, and the Legion's team, arrived on the top of the Fort, they were attacked by a group of Condor's residents, Lyran loyalists led by Bernard Blucher. Both Legion and Condors fought together against the Lyrans, reaching their command post and killing them all, except for Blucher, who was captured.[6]

The 7 February, the Legion returned to their mainland, and Curtain went with them. He informed the Tamar liaison about the Condor's situation, despite the fact he wasn't anymore with them. As he said later to Bel's brother, Ronan Carlyle, he, along with Ishikawa and some other Condors, had joined the Legion to pay a debt of gratitude with them. Isobel accepted him and even gave him the rank of Sergeant. Ronan wasn't sure if he accepted him, but finally welcomed him into the Legion.[7]

BattleMech

Curtain piloted a Regent OmniMech. [8]

Notes

  • As Curtain was very reserved about his past, his Clan of origin is unknown, but Ronan Carlyle once saids than the Legion had former Jade Falcon, in their rabnks, and as the only known Clanner was Curtain, it's implied than he was him.[9]
