The Crimond system was home to at least one habitable world, Crimond IV, and as of 3145 was located in the Clan Jade Falcon Occupation Zone.[2][3]

System Description[edit]

Crimond is located near the Pandora and Tomans systems[2][3] and consists of a class F8II primary orbited by at least four worlds. During the thirty-first century a recharge station was in place at the zenith jump point.[1]

System History[edit]

The Crimond system was colonized at some point during or shortly after the First Exodus from Terra and was a part of the Tamar Pact prior to the formation of the Lyran Commonwealth in the mid-twenty-fourth century.[4]

Crimond IV, more commonly referred to simply as Crimond, is the fourth planet in the system and has a single moon named Osseous.[1]

Planetary History[edit]

Crimond was discovered as the result of a misjump by the Gak's Revenge, a JumpShip. The investigation team that landed on Crimond found a world with plentiful gemstones, mineral and metal ores, precious metals, and large petroleum reserves. The soil, however, was very nitrogen poor and filled with minerals that were toxic to most crops. Despite this, colonization efforts were successful, and as late as 3067 the inhabitants enjoyed a standard of living that rivaled any in the Lyran Commonwealth.[1]

Two of Crimond's three continents, Metallerz and Chromatisch, have been extensively explored and their resources extracted. The smaller island continent of Condor is a different story. A mixture of mountains and desert terrain, during the Star League the SLDF established Fort Beaufort here. As the home of the Fifty-fourth Mechanized Infantry Division, Fort Beaufort apparently specialized in training in harsh environments. No civilians ever settled on Condor, and the island was declared off limits by the AFFS.[32]

After the Clan Invasion Crimond became a command center for the LCAF, coordinating operations against Clan Jade Falcon. It also gained the Pandora College Training Battalion which became a popular first assignment for newly graduated recruits.[31]

On 19 February 3068, the 7th Falcon Regulars from Clan Jade Falcon targeted the planet. They found the 3rd Lyran Guards ready to defend the planet. The Third Lyran Guard fell back when the Seventh Falcon Regulars attacked, only to encircle them in the foothills near the Tybalt Mountains. Star Colonel Colbert Icaza dispatched his Fourth Binary to secure a supply line as well as a line of retreat, only to find Leutnant General Paul Zardetto's command company blocking that path. The Guards inflicted heavy damage to the Clan forces, forcing most of the Falcons to retreat. Star Colonel Icaza had to sacrifice more troops to break out of the Lyran encirclement and leave the planet.[33]
