The FSS Gray Paladin, operating as the "Star Mermaid", was a spy ship from Operation Silent Lance from 3026 onwards under captain Martin Kelly. A modified Union-class cargo hauler DropShip pretending to be an independent merchant, it visited several Capellan Confederation worlds to gather intel data prior to the Fourth Succession War.[1]
In its disguise as the tramp freighter Star Mermaid, the Gray Paladin openly carried an ST-46 shuttle (the FSS Flounder) and also the S-7A bus FSS Bottom-Feeder in a concealed bay.[1]
