Gunther's Grenadiers were one of several mercenary units in a "large contingent" of mercenaries that House Davion sent to raid Spica in 2970; other named mercenary units in the action include Brighton's Irregulars and Deidre's Destroyers. The mercenaries were surprised and all but destroyed by House Liao's Red Lancers together with the Prefectorate Guard, netting the defending Capellan Confederation forces sixteen salvaged 'Mechs of all types.[1]
