Kokuryu-Kai, also known as the Black Dragon Society, is a hardline traditionalist group opposed to Theodore Kurita's reforms of the Draconis Combine. Their intent is to overcome the imperial government and return the Combine back to the traditional ways that existed prior to then-Coordinator Takashi Kurita permiting most of the Rasalhague Military District to breakaway from the Combine and form the Free Rasalhague Republic in 3034.

The group had staged a number of uprisings against Theodore Kurita, including an assassination attempt on the his birthday in 3058.[citation needed]

Operation Batu

In October 3062, the society launched all three Alshain Avengers units to attack Clan Ghost Bear's capital world of Alshain as part of Operation Batu, triggering the Combine-Ghost Bear War.[1]

Jihad

In December 3067, forces loyal to the Society invaded Luthien in attempt to control the capital, capturing the Voice of the Dragon compound in the final week of the month. They control the planet by 30 December.[2][3][4]
