Duchess Margaret Aten was the adopted daughter of Grethar Lestrade, Duke of Skye. Despite her commoner background she would inherit the Duchy when her adoptive parents where killed in an accident.[1]

Duchess Aten was briefly deposed in a 3056 coup organized by Ryan Steiner and her son-in-law Richard Steiner.[4] The title did not immediately return to her however, instead being granted to David Sandoval by Prince-Archon Victor Steiner-Davion. Sometime around 3057, after the Lyran Alliance succeeded from the Federated Commonwealth, the title was restored to her.

On 2 November 3064, Duchess Margaret and her eldest daughter Ilse Aten, were assassinated, along with three of their security detail. The culprits escaped, and it remains undetermined who ordered the attack, though some circumstantial evidence exists that Kelswa-Steiner ordered the attack, perhaps even with Hermione's consent.
