Official answer (archived for reference)

On 30 January, 2013, 05:54:37 am, it was asked on the official BattleTech Forum in the "Ask the Writers" section (retrieved for reference from the forum at [bg.battletech.com/forums/index.php/topic,26598.0.html]):

"The inhabited planet in the Panpour system is identified as the 3rd planet, and in Handbook: House Davion it's said to have five moons.
This conflicts with the BattleCorps story "The Theseus Knot" where Panpour III is clearly described as a gas giant, and its large gravity well is also mentioned.
Requesting clarification."

Joel "Welshman" Bancroft-Connors answered:

"Generally sourcebooks trump BC fiction. Sounds like we goofed on the fact check for the BC story."

On the issue of whether there is a gas giant at another orbital, he went on to answer:

"If it's not written, then it's not written. That would probably be the easiest fix, however we are not in the habit of doing errata on fiction."

Gas Giant?

The position in system for Panpour (the inhabited planet) is given as three. However, according to the BattleCorps story Theseus Knot, Panpour III is a gas giant. I can't check Handbook: House Davion from here (p. 97), does it confirm this (so the inhabited world would probably be a moon around that gas giant) or are we looking at conflicting sources here? I've checked Handbook: House Davion, and it definitely says that the inhabited planet is the 3rd in the system, and makes no mention of it being a gas giant. The description gives details on the number of oceans and continents, and also lists 5 satellites. Looks like conflicting sources to me. BrokenMnemonic (talk) 03:59, 30 January 2013 (PST)
I Asked the Writers and requested a clarification. Frabby (talk) 05:57, 30 January 2013 (PST)
...and I got an answer. See above. Frabby (talk) 23:57, 31 January 2013 (PST)
