Additional tips
Here's some extra tips to help you get around in the wiki:

• For policies and guidelines, see The Five Core Policies of BattleTechWiki and the BTW Policies. Another good place to check out is our market of Projects, to see how the smaller communities within BTW do things in their particular niche areas.
• Each and every page (articles, policies, projects, images, etc.) has its very own discussion/talk page, found on the tab line at the top of the page. This is a great place to find out what the community is discussing along that subject and what previous issues have already been solved.
• If you want to play around with your new wiki skills, the Sandbox is for you. Don't worry: you won't break anything. A great resource for printing out is the Wiki Cheat Sheet.
• If you're not registered, then please consider doing so. At the very least, you'll have a UserPage that you own, rather than sharing one with the community.
• Also consider writing something about yourself on your UserPage (marked as "Neuling" at the top of the page, though only do this if you're registered). You'll go from being a 'redshirt' to a 'blueshirt,' with the respect of a more permanent member.
  • This is really helpful for the admins, as it gives your account that touch of "humanity" that assists us in our never-ending battle with spambots.
• For your first few edits on the wiki, please do not add any URLs (which can be an indicator of SPAM).
• Consider introducing yourself on our Discord server.
• In your Preferences, under the edit tab, consider checking Add pages I create to my watchlist and Add pages I edit to my watchlist, so that you can see how your efforts have affected the community. Check back on following visits by clicking on watchlist.
• If you're bored and want to find something to do, try the Random button in the sidebar, or check out the List of Wanted Pages. Or even go to Special Pages to see what weird stuff is actually tracked by this wiki.
• Please sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~) or by clicking on the circled button in this image; this will automatically produce your name (or IP address, if you are editing anonymously) and the date.

Table formatting

Hey Neuling I found some more CSS you may want to use. My Preferences -> Skin -> Custom CSS -> Edit.

Then paste in this code:

table.wikitable {text-align:center; border: 2px solid black;background-color: gray;}

Now any table that has a class of wikitable (which is most of them) will have a black border around the outside and a gray background. And you don't have to lift a finger on the content page!--Mbear 23:32, 11 March 2011 (UTC)

4th Tau Ceti Rangers

Hello, Neuling, I saw what you remarked of the 4th Tau Ceti Rangers. I did that article way, back in the first months of working with Sarna, so i messed up and didn't realize about rules then. Request for factions

Hey Mbear, I have a questions about the different factions an their unique equipment availability. I think it is useful to mark every variant with icons or something this way to know how has access to the machines. And could we expande the space between the variant to see where the beginning is and where the end. Neuling 19:22, 22 March 2011 (UTC)

Neuling, I think that's what the categories are for at the bottom of the unit pages. If a faction is listed, it has access to the 'Mech. A 'Mech with no factions listed is available to everyone.

Wait, I just re-read what you wrote. OK. So an example of your proposal would be putting a small Federated Suns logo in front of those variants listed as being a Federated Suns unit? Ummm...adding an icon to every variant is going to be a big task, and possibly discourage contributions from new editors.--Mbear 19:56, 22 March 2011 (UTC)

Well, there are two problems with your request Doneve:

1. Consensus has not been reached (as far as I know). Neuling, please make your suggestion on the Project BattleMechs Talk page so others can contribute.
2. I don't have icon images yet. Until consensus is reached, I'm not going to make them. (I'll wait until I know the project has accepted the idea before making them.)--Mbear 01:16, 23 March 2011 (UTC)

Neuling, in the past you've had a habit of making unilateral changes to content because you think it looks better, making little or no attempt to build consensus with other editors. Recently you suggested adding a faction specific icon to each variant on a 'Mech's page to the BattleMech Project's Talk page. Tables on talk page

Formatting

Neuling - If you're going to add new material to articles like the [{ER Flamer]], could you please format that material cleanly? There is no need for ALL CAPITAL LETTERS. (I'm not shouting - I'm just showing how capital letters aren't aesthetically pleasing.) I would suggest using those tables from before. ClanWolverine101 14:54, 11 April 2011 (UTC)

You changed the article, during my latest save attempt. That was an accident. And where is the problem with the composition table. Aerospace Fighter Images

The images of the Shilone, Lightning and the Chippewa from XTRO: Pirates just show the standard versions and no variants. The same pictures are also in older TROs. Harry 20:02, 30 June 2011 (UTC)
