Description[edit]

The Verne Cargo Sub is an ancient submarine freighter which has been in use since the time of the Terran Alliance. The ship is used to relay freight to underwater sites for major corporations such as Defiance Industries and Earthwerks Inc. in the Inner Sphere.

The design's first noted use was recorded in 2289, when a pair of Vernes were used to transport the dismantled Eiffel Tower to Japan on Terra.[1][2]

Equipment and Capabilities[edit]

The Verne's air-independent power plants and large oxygen tanks allows the ship to operate for extended periods underwater. The design is noted for its nimble handling. However, mechanically the ship requires extensive maintenance to keep it operating.

The ship has two cargo bays. Its primary cargo bay is able to hold 3,300 tons of standard cargo. The cargo is accessible from one of its six cargo bay doors – front, rear, and two on each side. It has second-class cabins for up to 40 passengers.

It also has a 200 ton–capacity vehicle bay which it uses for smaller cargo skiffs or small submarines to relay cargo to non-dockable ports.

Notes[edit]

The ship features Submersible Chassis and Control Modification, it has docking units (vehicle bays). It also has 8 (maritime) lifeboats. The ship has an Equipment Rating of C/C-E-D/D

As of this writing, there is no published record sheet for this design.

Design Quirks[edit]
