Description

Waypoint 531 is a system in the Deep Periphery, approximately 150 light years coreward from Nueva Castile. The system has a red giant at its core. The only other stellar bodies in the system are four large asteroids known as "The Brothers".

History

The system shows up in early stellar cartography, it was discovered during the colonial expansion in the days of the Terran Alliance. It is unremarkable save for the loss of the THS Yosemite, a colony JumpShip that crippled its drive in 2499. All the crew died not long after the incident.

The system and the wreck were discovered by ComStar in 2833, they stripped it of any viable technology and of its DropShips. Clan Blood Spirit also discovered the system in 2880, but ignored it. It was used for occasion Bandit Caste raids in Nueva Castile.

In the late 3060, a Word of Blake Explorer Corps arrived and verified the system was empty; within two years they established a small space station around one of the asteroids. It boasted minimal defense systems and was slowly built up as a supply point. In early 3073 the Word of Blake was planning an invasion of the Pentagon Worlds. Precentor Irene Gillick, concerned with the loss of contact with the Word of Blake Protectorate, had gathered up and moved much of the Word of Blake assets to Waypoint 531, approximately one Division worth of troops and materials.

In July 3073 a Dark Caste flotilla lead by The Jaguar and escorted by the [[Fuchida] arrived and was surprised in finding the Blakist JumpShips and immediately attacked. With nothing to counter their enemies, Precentor Gillick surrendered. The Jaguar traded the Blakist prisoners to the Tanites for food and supplies, and used the captured equipment for raids on Nueva Castile, Hanseatic League, and on several Clan worlds.

In November 3073 the Clan Goliath Scorpion Andromeda arrived in the system with the Third Seeker Cluster on their way to the Homeworlds from the Rim Worlds space. Seeing a derelict Warship near an orbiting space station, the Seekers approached believing they found a Star League cache. They were surprised when they were attacked by the WarShip and a few DropShips and Fighters but quickly dispatched the bandits.

Star Colonel Yeh left behind a Binary of fighters to guard their prize and returned to Roche. The system would later become vital for the Scorpions. After they were Abjured, they gathered as much of their assets as they could to Waypoint 531, from which they moved on to conquer Nueva Castile and rename it Escorpion Imperio.
