XLIV Corps (or the Forty-Fourth Corps) was one of the seventy-two Corps that made up the Star League Defense Force. Prior to the collapse of the Star League XLIV Corps was a large corps consisting of 9 divisions and 2 independent regiments.[1]

History[edit]

In 2764 XLIV Corps was part of the 16th Army assigned to District 3 of the Draconis Combine Military Region. When the simmering violence and rebellion building in the Periphery erupted with the New Vandenberg Uprising and subsequent Periphery-wide uprising in 2765 XLIV Corps was deployed into the Periphery Military Region along with the rest of the 16th Army.[1]

The campaign in the Periphery cost XLIV Corps two divisions, the 100th Jump Infantry Division and The Big Red One, as well as both of the Corps' independent regiments. The Hegemony Campaign cost XLIV Corps at least four more divisions and possibly a fifth, as the fate of The Bullfighters from Seville remains unknown. By the end of the campaign, XLIV Corps consisted of just two divisions, the Protector Division and the Los Angeles Division[1]

Both remaining divisions chose to follow General Aleksandr Kerensky on the Exodus in 2784.[1]
