XX Corps (or the Twentieth Corps) was one of the seventy-two Corps that made up the Star League Defense Force. Prior to the collapse of the Star League XX Corps consisted of five divisions and two independent regiments.[1]

History[edit]

In 2764 XX Corps was part of the 13th Army, assigned to District 3 of the Lyran Commonwealth Military Region. The SLDF High Command was concerned with the Twentieth Corps performance at this time, as the previous commander had died suddenly and allowed standards to slip. The entire Thirteenth Army was undergoing review, and several crash courses and training exercises were planned to sharpen the skills of the Twentieth and its fellow commands. The Twentieth did improve, but not as much as the other members of the Thirteenth Army. The fact the Twentieth was the only full-strength Corps in the Thirteenth concerned the commanders. One of the largest problems facing the Twentieth was the belief that several officers were passed over for promotion to lead the Corps. This wasn't true, and these officers were disappointed and it showed in their work with General Raymond McGavern.[2]

When the simmering violence and rebellion building in the Periphery erupted with the New Vandenberg Uprising and subsequent Periphery-wide uprising in 2765 XX Corps was deployed into the Periphery Military Region along with the rest of the 13th Army.[1]

The only major XX Corps loss during the Periphery Uprising was the 100th Hussar Regiment, one of the Corps' two independent regiments, who defected to join the rebels. XX Corps went on to fight during the Hegemony Campaign, losing the Ardennes Division and the 148th Mechanized Infantry Division, although it's possible losses may have been higher; no records show what happened to the 173rd Mechanized Infantry Division after their Periphery deployment in 2765.[1]

When General Aleksandr Kerensky led the bulk of the surviving SLDF on the Exodus in 2784 the entire of XX Corps followed him.[1]
