Alina Brzkova was a battalion commander in the Eleventh Syrtis Fusiliers as of 2829.[1]

Colonel Brzkova, commanding a battalion of the Eleventh Syrtis Fusiliers, lead a raid on the Capellan Confederation world of Stein's Folly in 2829. Intended as a hit-and-run attack, one of Brzkova's DropShip's suffered from a fusion core failure, leaving an entire company of troops without transport off-planet. Brzkova chose to keep the entire battalion on Stein's Folly until the stricken vessel's engine could be repaired, leading to a brutal fifteen-day engagement against the attacking Sharpe Rifles. Unable to utilize their trademark maneuverability while defending the grounded DropShip, Brzkova's soldiers instead used their light forces to lure the Sharpe Rifles into prepared traps or artillery barrages, although these tactics stopped working by the second week of fighting.[1]
As the two sides settled in for a bloody slugging match, the weapons of the Fusiliers' DropShips served as the one advantage the Capellans couldn't overcome. Withdrawing on 17 November with nine destroyed BattleMechs and 100 infantry casualites, Brzkova's troops had ultimately done significantly more damage to their tormentors than had been done to them. While Brzokva's stand was a relatively small engagement compared to others in the Second Succession War, the Fusiliers' ability to cause so many casualties against an opponent they were not well-matched against continued to be a subject of discussion in Federated Suns military academies throughout the era.[1]
