Description[edit]
The Alpha Wolf is an agile Assault OmniMech built by Clan Wolf. Its deployment delayed due to focus on quickly rebuilding the Wolf touman and represents the Wolf's third totemic 'Mech. The Alpha Wolf combines components from the Warwolf, Timber Wolf, and Wulfen[3] in an effort to streamline development and production. The inclusion of Stealth Armor represents a paradigm shift within Clan military doctrine, but the defensive capabilities were deemed well worth the effort.
Weapons and Equipment[edit]
The Primary Configuration carries twin LRM-15 missile racks that allow the Alpha Wolf to bombard enemy targets as it closes to shorter ranges. Once at a comfortable distance, it can bring a pair of class-5 rotary autocannons to rip through any remaining armor on its foes. Six tons of autocannon ammunition and four tons of missiles give the 'Mech fairly good endurance on the battlefield. However, no backup weapons are part of the Primary Configuration, so extended campaigns are not the forte of this configuration.[2]
Alternate Configurations[edit]
- Alternate Configuration A
- A brawler designed to fight in the middle of the battle, the A configuration mounts a pair of ER-PPCs and a quartet of medium pulse lasers. A pair of Streak SRM-6's supplement the A configuration's close-range firepower. A supercharger provides the speed boosts required to close the range. Finally, additional heat sinks and a coolant pod help relieve the enormous heat burden of these weapons. BV (2.0) = 3,359[2]
- Alternate Configuration B
- Another brawler, the B-configuration relies on a Gauss rifle and pair of large pulse lasers as its primary weapons. Two SRM-6 launchers enhanced by Artemis V provide extra close-range firepower. Finally, all explosive components are protected by CASE II. BV (2.0) = 2,672[2]
- Alternate Configuration C
- The C-configuration is a dedicated sniper. Dual ER large lasers and two Inner-Sphere-made Extended LRM-10s allow the C-configuration to engage enemies at maximum range and make the most use of the sensor-defeating properties of its stealth armor. Three ER medium lasers provide backup firepower at shorter ranges, while an additional six double heat sinks handle the configuration's heat burden. BV (2.0) = 2,535[2]
