Daxa Mahat was a Free Worlds League officer leading dissident elements of the Fourth Regulan Hussars.[1]

History[edit]

The Fourth Regulan Hussars had historically been staffed by personnel from the Regulan world of Muscida, with some hailing from Gibson, a former Regulan system. Although the Gibsonians had proved themselves as assets to the Fourth, many questioned their integrity and distrusted them, calling them foreigners and traitors to Regulus.[1]

Count Derick Cameron-Jones was undertaking a goodwill tour of Regulan worlds with an honor guard drawn from the ranks of the Fourth, and Marik extremists under the command of Daxa Mahat used this as an opportunity to pose as pirates and orchestrate a false flag attack on the count in order to discredit the Gibsonians in the unit and present them as unworthy of serving in the count's honor guard.[1]

Mahat scheduled official training exercises on Kearny as a guise to move on Cameron-Jones, only to discover that the Gibsonians had anticipated this and hired a mercenary outfit to supplement their detachment and defend their honor, fending off Mahat's forces while Cameron-Jones hid in a subterranean tunnel network below an outpost before later evacuating to a safer location. They tried to attack the count again on Mauripur, but he was secretly moved to a spaceport so he could get off-planet while the mercenaries engaged them at the decoy location.[1]

Having committed treason by plotting against the loyal Gibsonians within their ranks and for the attempts on the count's life, Cameron-Jones placed a bounty on Daxa Mahat's head and ordered the dissidents eliminated. After Mahat was killed on Diass, his few surviving followers faced court-martial, despite their petitions for clemency.[1]
