Major General Fred Marshdale was the military aide, to Regulan Fiefs leader Captain-General Lester Cameron-Jones, from at least 3145 until 3148.[1][2]

Personal Appearance[edit]

As of 3147, Marshdale was considered to be leather-faced, with a gray hair and a bushy sliver beard under his crooked nose.[3]

History[edit]

Marshdale was linked to the March 3148 assassination of Jessica Marik, being the last employer of a group which had adopted the name of the Scourge of Death, which was responsible for the bombing of the House Halas palace on Oriente.[2] He had sought to arrange the assassination with the agreement of Lester Cameron-Jones, during a meeting of the Regulan Strategic Military Command on 2 July 3147.[3]

Captain-General Cameron-Jones was however unhappy with how the killing was carried out, since the bombers had also killed a number of diplomats from the Duchy of Andurien, and their actions were traceable back to Regulan Fiefs based on their claim to be acting on behalf of the former Regulan rulers House Selaj. These aspects of the killing were actually due to the bombing actually being at the behest of the Capellan Confederation, since Marshdale had made preparations for the murder, but had not actually issue the final kill orders. Not realizing the Capellan involvement however, Captain-General Cameron-Jones removed Marshdale from his military role, striped him of all rank, and had him imprisoned.[4] Following his disgrace, Marshdale's place within the RSMC was taken by Major General Cezar Solomon.[5]

Subsequently, and in response to Nikol Marik's reprisal attack on Regulus in April 3148, Lester Cameron-Jones disavowed General Marshdale’s supposed actions in ordering the killing of Jessica Marik and handed him over to Nikol's custody for punishment.[6] Nikol accepted Marshdale as her prisoner, even though she was aware it was in fact the Capellan's who were ultimately responsible for Jesscia's death, since it was politically helpful for managing relations with both Regulus and the Confederation. Following his extradition to the Free Worlds League, Marshdale was taken to Atreus, where he was sentenced to life imprisonment on Nikol Marik's orders.[7]
