Ian McKinnon was a Commander of The Fox's Teeth elite Company. Since his days as a common warrior, he has used unconventional tactics to fight successful actions against the CCAF and DCMS. He is known as independent and unorthodox, and habitually cannot be found in static, defensive positions. Ian was described as short, wiry, and dark-haired, though it noticeably went grey in his later years.[1][3][4]

History[edit]

Ian was forced to sell off some of the family's estates to pay the gambling debts accrued by his younger brother, Mark. Ian knew of his brother's lacksidasical attitude to duties important to the running of a military unit, such as routine maintenance, and was aware that command should not pass to him. Mark died in 3034 and so he was saved from that unfortunate outcome for the Raiders.[1][2][3]

He led his The Fox's Teeth company with great skill and co-wrote a book about his career. In his later years, he took command of a battalion in the Kestrel Militia in 3051,[1] retiring from his family's namesake BattleMech company in favor of his son, Ross McKinnon.[4]

BattleMechs[edit]

Ian McKinnon piloted a MAD-3R Marauder at the end of the Third Succession War.[3] From around 3034 until his retirement in 3051, McKinnon piloted the heavily customized BL-6-KNT Black Knight Ian.[5][1]
