Profession | Broker[1] |
Miller was an independent broker who connected organizations with mercenary companies as needed.[1]
History[edit]
Sometime in the first half of the thirty-first century, Miller helped an anonymous benefactor contract a mercenary unit to strike at key strategic targets along the Steiner–Kurita border belonging to both Houses. He was not aware of their motives but surmised it was an attempt to incite conflict between the two sides which would lead to open war.[1]
After the mercenaries took out a heavily defended Steiner command base on Accrington and a camouflaged Kuritan communications relay on Port Moseby that was monitoring Steiner transmissions in the region, it was becoming clear that crippling each side's military infrastructure had reduced the likeliness of fighting boiling over. Meanwhile, a war-mongering Lyran General looking for any excuse to go to war, Wilhelm Shaw, had learned of the mysterious benefactor's plot. The mercenaries were forced to silence him on Sakhalin before he could sound the alarm and expose their subterfuge.[1]
Miller had worked for clients who paid mercenaries to act as catalysts for conflict, but never before to maintain the fragile peace, and he didn't know if he would hear from the shadow organization again.[1]
