Nanami Ueno was the commanding officer of the Third Pesht Regulars as of 3085.[2]

History[edit]

Tai-sa Ueno, serving with the Third Pesht Regulars, was stationed on Chatham in 3085.[2] During the Second Combine-Dominion War in 3099, Ueno's Third Regulars were the only garrison troops present when Itabaiana was invaded by the entirety of the Ghost Bear Dominion's Beta Galaxy. Massively overwhelmed when the Bears made planetfall on 9 April, Ueno chose to establish the Third Regulars' defenses around the planet's primary logistics center, hoping to use minefields and camouflaged pit traps to whittle down the opposing forces before direct combat began. Ueno also launched probing strikes using Clan Nova Cat-designed BattleMechs in an attempt to fool the Bears into thinking Itabaiana also possessed a Nova Cat garrison element. Unfortunately and unbeknownst to Ueno, the Bears were under orders to destroy the facility without engaging the Draconis Combine troops—her efforts to create confusion instead lead Beta Galaxy's commander to believe that Ueno's Regulars had integrated Clan troops and were thus a legitimate target for attack.[1]

Beta Galaxy's response was to use their four-to-one numerical advantage to simply push through Ueno's traps and defenses, ignoring the few losses dealt to them in order to close with the Regulars. After fifty minutes of fighting, a surviving company of Third Regulars retreated into the logistics center and were nearly killed to a man alongside the Nova Cat workers when a Bear artillery barrage destroyed the factory. When footage of the Third Regulars' demise reached the rest of the Combine, the Draconis government began officially coordinating with Clan Nova Cat in order to avenge their losses to the Dominion.[1]
