History
The Third Avalon Borderers were an Armed Forces of the Federated Suns regiment formed by recruiting former Star League Defense Force personnel.[1]
First Succession War
In 2784 the AFFS successfully recruited a number of SLDF regiments. One of the regiments recruited was the 2004th Battle Regiment,[2] formerly a part of VII Corps[3] within the SLDF Eighth Army.[2][3] The 2004th's parent division, the 297th Mechanized Infantry Division, had been disbanded following losses during the Hegemony Campaign.[3] The Dragoons were redesignated as the Third Avalon Borderers, and were joined within the Avalon Borderers brigade by two other former SLDF commands, the Fifth Hussar Regiment and the 149th Dragoon Regiment.[2] Although the Third's new sister regiments would survive the First Succession War, the Third was destroyed.[1]
