4th Garrison (Clan Smoke Jaguar)

Overview

The 4th Garrison Cluster was a second line Cluster of Clan Smoke Jaguar. It was considered to be of Elite status and one of the best Garrison Clusters in the entire Jaguar Touman more than capable of fighting and winning against front line opponents.[1]

History

Post Tukayyid

Other Clusters of Kappa Galaxy were posted to the Inner Sphere Occupation Zone after the Battle of Tukayyid [2] and this is also the likely deployment date for the Fourth. The Cluster had moved to Luzerne by 3053 [3] and in the winter of 3058/3059 they were joined by the 6th Striker Cluster with the aim of launching operations against Clan Ghost Bear. Possibly in retaliation for recent Bear aggression. [4]

Operation Bulldog

As part of this clandestine campaign Allens Animals, a company sized unit from the Third Davion Guards, dropped onto Luzerne in May 3059. Their first objective was the supply depot at Gateway, the entrance to the Lawrence Pass that they attacked on 21st May. The Animals held off the Fourth's defenders long enough to destroy a significant portion of the facility, but lost a quarter of their strength in doing so.[5] The Fourth hunted it down, sending out hunter-killer groups which the Animals ran rings around until they ran in to Kappa's Command Trinary at Drake Woods in the Topeka Highlands on 2 June. Here they were heavily damaged and the survivors scattered.[6] The Fourth were still dealing with the remains of this threat when the main assault hit the planet.[7]

Wave Two

  • Luzerne - Here it was attacked by the 208th ComStar Division and the 3rd Davion Guards RCT. [8] The fighting was bitter and drawn out, degenerating into three separate sieges which lasted into Wave Three before the cluster was destroyed. The few remaining officers were killed when their DropShip was shot down attempting to leave the planet.

Rules

When deploying BattleMechs and Elementals, the Fourth PGC gains a +1 Initiative Bonus and no hidden enemy unit may use pointblank shots against them. [9]
