The Alliance Grand Surveys were star system surveys conducted by the Terran Alliance in the late 22nd and early 23rd centuries.

History

By the time of the 2140's, many colonies were more then one hyperjump away from Earth. So in the tradition of the star system survey conducted by the TAS Pathfinder (in the opening years of the 22nd century) the Alliance Grand Surveys were Terran Alliance missions to catalog the extent of Terran Alliance colonized worlds and population.

Some colonists speculated that the surveys were a thinly veiled attempt to show Alliance authority, not interested in population numbers at all. As if to back up that speculation, basic statistics were published but the actual population numbers were never revealed to the public.

It is extremely likely that these missions were under the control of the Terran Space Navy but that remains unconfirmed.

Survey Results

First Alliance Grand Survey

The First Grand Survey started in 2168 and ended in 2174 cataloging an estimated one hundred and eight (108) colonized worlds spread over an eighty light-year radius.

Second Alliance Grand Survey

The Second Grand Survey of 2195 cataloged over two hundred (200) colonized worlds spread over a ninety light-year radius.

Third Alliance Grand Survey

The Third Grand Survey of 2219 cataloged over three hundred (300) colonized worlds in an one hundred light-year radius.

Fourth Alliance Grand Survey

The Fourth Grand Survey of 2235 cataloged over six hundred (600) colonized worlds in an one hundred and twenty light-year radius.

TAS Pathfinder Survey (Comparison)

The TAS Pathfinder surveyed thirty five star systems with fifty inhabitable worlds over a forty light year radius.
