Gum Nebula
System Information
X:Y Coordinates1,131.71 : 647.99[e]

The Gum Nebula is a nebula located in the Deep Periphery, approximately 800 lightyears spinward of the Draconis Combine and Outworlds Alliance.[1][2]

System Description

The Gum Nebula was the name given to a large nebula located beyond the far smaller the Vela Nebula, in the spinward region of the Deep Periphery.[2] The supernova remnant spans over 700 lightyears and dominates the night skies of numerous worlds located in the Dark Expanse. All endemic life on any world within 250 lightyears of the nebula's center is either currently experiencing a mass extinction event or has already been destroyed by sterilizing radiation. As of 3095, Interstellar Expeditions had failed to find any indication of human habitation within the extinction event. Exploration closer to the center is impossible, due to ionizing radiation.[3]

The provided coordinates designate the nebula's center point.

Notes

The Gum Nebula was first identified in 2012 with the publication of Interstellar Players 3: Interstellar Expeditions. Other than the location of the astronomical feature and its definition as a nebula, no information was provided; in the absence of further information on the Deep Periphery, no further detail is likely to be available on the Gum Nebula.
