In 2620, Jeffrey stepped forward to restore order following the assassination of his sister, Amanda, in a botched coup attempt by their cousin Willard. He followed through with Amanda's democratic reforms, holding elections in 2622, but developed a distaste for statecraft and resigned from office. He appointed Amanda's baby daughter Selanta as the next president when she came of age, with a triumvirate of Protectors managing affairs until her nineteenth birthday.[1]
