Captain John Giruard was an officer in Wolf's Dragoons, who served as the commander of Giruard's Company of Able Battalion in Gamma Regiment, as of 3028.[1]

History
Giruard was considered to be an incurable romantic, spending his off duty time pursing hopeless romantic entanglements, by writing florid love letters, delivering flowers or making impassioned appeals to uninterested women. His frustrations at his failed love life appeared to add a desperate ingeniousness to his battlefield tactics however.
During the Battle of Misery in 3028, Giruard led his company into the fray against a much larger Ryuken unit with the words "This is for Mary", in an engagement which decimated his company and cost his own life. It was not known after his death which of his love interests named Mary he had dedicated his last charge.[1]
