Description
Essentially a generational improvement over the Man-Portable Medium Machine Guns or General Purpose Machine Guns of the 20th Century. This weapon fires rifle rounds in the vicenity of 7.62 mm or 0.30 calibre. This calibre of round is better able to damage BattleMechs, Category:Battle Armor and Category:Combat Vehicles due to the higher mass of the projectiles and muzzle velocity. Portable Machine Guns are light enough to be carried and fired by a single trooper and are often deployed along side grenade launchers. Consuming more ammo than Long Arms that use the same calibre, units that use the Portable Machine Gun as its support weapon are more firmly tied by their supply chain.
