Description[edit]

The Mk. 1 Light Disposable AA Weapon is an anti-aircraft missile weapon produced by Armstrong Industries, part of a series of weapons which has started making a comeback on the modern battlefield.[1] Man-portable anti-aircraft weapons became almost extinct during the Succession Wars as the advanced electronics necessary for their construction became rarer and reserved for other roles, though their reintroduction post–Clan Invasion has been spurred on by the recent technological resurgence. The overall low damage potential of AA weapons, with their relatively small shaped-charge warheads, is offset by their ability to penetrate armor and damage components, which can be incredibly hazardous for aircraft flying at low altitudes.[2]

The Mk. 1 is a disposable system good for one shot and designed to be used by an individual or as a squad support weapon. Its light weight and cheap costs allows several to be carried as a contingency when air defense is necessary. In truth, the system is more effective for its psychological rather than actual military effectiveness, both for those who carry it and those against which it is used.[2]
