Developed as a desperate response to the superior technology of the Clans, Field Refit Kits were packages of Star League-era military hardware intended to enhance the abilities of pre-constructed BattleMechs, Combat Vehicles and AeroSpace Fighters to hurriedly close the gap with the invaders.
Overview
The concept came about in 3051, during a lull in the Clan Invasion, Jaime Wolf, of the Wolf's Dragoons called a conference on Outreach. All the heads of the various Inner Sphere houses and several mercenary leaders were invited.
At the end of the conference Captain-General Thomas Marik struck a deal to supply the Federated Commonwealth, Draconis Combine, and Free Rasalhague Republic with Star League-era military hardware. In return, Thomas' son Joshua began undergoing treatment for his leukemia at the New Avalon Institute of Science. The League's military industrial complex expanded rapidly, and the war-ravaged nations bought whatever they could, even after the Truce of Tukayyid.
