Description and Summary

Special Pilot Abilities are an optional rule set, first formalized in MechWarrior Card Packs. They are intended to increase the depth of gameplay, providing rules for otherwise unsupported abilities mentioned in game fiction.

List of Special Pilot Abilities

Antagonizer

Gives the Pilot the possibility to force an enemy to attack him and only him unless another unit attacks the target.[1]

Blood Stalker

Decreases To-Hit Modifier against single enemy while increasing it against all others, until that enemy is removed from play.[2][3][4]

Cluster Hitter

Pilot an choose to increase the number of missiles impacting the target or make an aimed shot that makes all cluster ammunition impact the same location but only if unit does not move and fires no other weapons.[5][6]

Combat Intuition

Though it injuries himself, the pilot is able to act last or act in the middle of the turn moving and attacking a selected enemy unit.[7][8]

Demoralizer

Instead of attacking, a pilot can try to demoralize a unit that will not allow him to move closer to the pilot and hamper his shooting capabilities.[9]

Dodge

Pilot can try to dodge all physical attacks made against him.[10][11]

Eagle's Eyes

The pilot is enabled to detect and classify other battlefield units whether they are camouflaged or even shut down, with the exception of conventional infantry, and has additional possibilities to detect minefields and booby traps.[12]

First Fire

Pilot can shot after a punch with one weapon on that arm.[10]

Heavy Lifter

Pilot can carry more weight that the maximum allowed by default.[13]

Hot Dog

Pilot is more skilled to avoid overheating on his machine.[14][15][16][17][18]

Human TRO

Pilot has an advantage when rolling for Critical Hits.[19][20][21][22]

Iron Will

Pilot is able to resist better effects from Animal Mimicry, Antagonizer and Demoralizer Special Pilot Abilities.[23][24]

Jumping Jack

The pilot is not hampered as much as others when firing after jumping.[25][26][27][28][18]

Lucky

Pilot can re-roll one roll per level of the skill per scenario.[13][7][28][29]

Maneuvering Ace

Pilot is able to do a Lateral Shift similar to what can be done by default by a Scorpion.[30][31][27][4]

Marksman

The pilot is able to do aimed shots with a single weapon always and it is better when using a targeting computer.[32]

Melee Master

Pilot can make one additional physical per attack phase.[2][33][11]

Melee Specialist

Pilot is better at physical attacks and inflicts more damage.[34][33]

Multi-Tasker

The penalties for attacking to secondary targets are reduced.[35][15][24][36]

Natural Grace

Pilot has a superb talent piloting making him more proficient in buildings and ultra-heavy terrain and able to take the 'Mech do somo twists and arm flips no others can do.

Range Master

Medium

Pilot swaps short range modifiers with medium range modifiers.[23][3]

Long

Pilot swaps short range modifiers with long range modifiers.[37][16][38]

Sandblaster

LRM

Pilot is able to hit with more missiles when firing LRM.[39][40][41]

SRM

Pilot is able to hit with more missiles when firing SRM.[31]

Sharpshooter

If remaining stationary and not making physical attacks, may fire one weapon only in an Aimed Shot. Successful attack grants extra potential critical hit, even if armor remains in the location.[41][42]

Slugger

Pilot can use a BattleMech Club single-handed, so can use torso weapons and weapons on the other arm.[43]

Sniper

Reduce range attack modifiers by half.[44][34][20][45]

Speed Demon

Pilot is able to run or sprint a bit more if he does not make any attack.[46][14][47]

Stand-Aside

Pilot has can try to pass through an hex occupied by the enemy.[44][26][48]

Tactical Genius

Allows one Initiative re-roll per turn.[35][43]

Terrain Master

Forest Ranger

Pilot can exchange movement capability to give enemies penalties while attacking him inside a forest or jungle.[19]

Mountaineer

Pilot can exchange movement capability if he goes through rough terrain or rubble, or for any level changes to get a bonus to his piloting skill rolls required for moving through such terrain.[26]

Swamp Beast

Pilot can exchange movement capability if he goes through mud or swamp to get a bonus to his piloting skill rolls required for moving through such terrain. Pilot can also exchange movement capability to give enemies penalties while attacking him inside a mud or swamp.[48]

Weapon Specialist

ER Medium Laser

Pilot is more proficient with a ER Medium Laser.[22]

Gauss Rifle

Pilot is more proficient with a Gauss Rifle.[29]

Large Laser

Pilot is more proficient with a Large Laser.[40]

ER Large Laser

Pilot is more proficient with a ER Large Laser.[21]

PPC

Pilot is more proficient with a PPC.[39]
