Description

The Surtur is a fast medium BattleMech developed by the Hanseatic League. It was the first mech fully designed and built within their borders. By the 3120s, the League's industrial base had achieved pre-Jihad levels of technology. The governing Merchant Council therefore decided that in recognition of their nation's achievement, an indigenous design should be made. The Surtur performs as a skirmisher and close-quarters melee fighter.

Weapons and Equipment

The Surtur is a close range attacker, so engineers fitted the design with an extra light fusion engine to push the 'Mech to 90 km/h. A supercharger allows for a temporary boost in speed to 120 km/h, but the mech lacks jump jets. The 'Mech's armor protection includes an impressive twelve tons of standard armor. This ensures that the mech can survive high levels of weapons fire while approaching its target.

Firepower includes two standard side torso mounted SRM-6s with one ton of ammunition. Unfortunately, the mech lacks CASE and this single ton of ammunition feeds from the center torso, which can be viewed as a severe design flaw. Secondary weapons include seven Flamers, three mounted in each side torso and a single flamer in the left arm. Its signature weapon is a sword mounted in the right arm.[1]

The Surtur boasts twelve double heat sinks, but even these struggle to keep the mech cool if all weapons are fired simultaneously.

Design Quirks

No Design Quirks have been assigned to the SUR-T1 Surtur.

Notes

As of this writing, there is no image for the 'Mech other than the silhouette of a WVR-9D Wolverine with sword added.
