The Tikonov Rangers were a mercenary unit consisting of at least one company of BattleMechs.
History[edit]
At an unspecified point in time after 3023[1] and implicitly prior to the Clan Invasion[2] they took a contract with a planetary noble on an unspecified world. The objective was to defend a contested ammunition factory against a raid by Randal's Wreckers, a similar mercenary unit that the Rangers were very familiar with.[3]
Both sides called in reinforcements, and the fight escalated into a company vs. company battle where both sides attempted to either seize the factory, or at least enforce a draw by destroying the factory and thus denying it to the enemy.[4] The outcome was not described.

Composition History[edit]
The full company-sized force of the Tikonov Rangers deployed in the defense of the factory was composed as follows:[4]
- Battle Lance
- WHM-6D Warhammer
- CTF-1X Cataphract
- ON1-K Orion
- VND-1R Vindicator
- Cavalry Lance
- HER-2M Hermes II
- FS9-H Firestarter
- VL-2T Vulcan
- COM-2D Commando
- Fire Lance
The initial defense lance of the factory was composed of the Warhammer, Marauder, Firestarter, and (notably) an HCT-3F Hatchetman[3] that did not take part in the escalated battle,[4] suggesting it was destroyed in the initial action. They faced a virtually identical lance from Randal's Wreckers, plus possibly a second Marauder and a second Firestarter on the Wreckers' side.[5]
References[edit]
- ↑ Their roster includes an HCT-3F Hatchetman, a design that was introduced in 3023 and would not have been available to the unit before that time
- ↑ Their lineup as presented includes no advanced (Star League or Clan) technology, suggesting their equipment stems from a time prior to the Clan Invasion and the general technological recovery associated with that time period
