MechWarrior Will Drake was a member of A Lance, Second Company, Gregg's Battalion of the New Syrtis Capellan March Militia as of 3069.[1]

In October 3069 during Operation THUNDERSTRIKE, units from the New Syrtis CMM including Drake defended Jefferson University on New Syrtis against a Capellan Confederation raid by elements of the Second McCarron's Armored Cavalry and the Death Commandos, which was attempting to kidnap Federated Suns physicist Doctor Lei Iverson.
The attempt was however foiled by the New Syrtis CMM, who held off the Capellans, until Dr. Iverson was able to escape via underground tunnels which formed part of Jefferson University's particle accelerator facility. Drake was instrumental in this outcome, as he and MechWarrior Patti Paulson made a last minute charge which savaged the Death Commandos' battle armor, limiting those available to chase after Dr. Iverson.[1]
