Context suggests that "Yefka" may have been either a cover name or otherwise a misspelling of Yeska Riviera (or a conflation of his name with that of his sister Stefka Riviera). The Riviera siblings, grandchildren of Dr. Brooklyn Stevens, had embarked on a quest to uncover the truth of their grandmother's fate around 3135, a quest that apparently drew the attention of at least two undercover agencies to them and resulted in the destruction of the DropShip Lusitania IV in what appears to have been an attempt at Stefka Riviera's life.

Yeska Riviera was the brother of Stefka Riviera and a grandchild of Brooklyn Stevens.

History

He served with RAF militia forces on Lyons in 3135, but disappeared around November or December of 3135. By 3136 the Lyons Planetary Authority was seeking him for questioning, posting a Wanted Ad on LinkNet.[1]

He was believed to be at large and possibly operating within a 90-light-year radius of Lyons.[1]

Manhunt

The Riviera siblings, Stefka Riviera in particular, sought to uncover the fate of their grandmother Brooklyn Stevens, who had found the hidden World of Blake world of Jardine in 3067 and had thus triggered a manhunt for herself and her family that went largely unnoticed in the chaos of the Jihad era. Even 68 years later in 3135, the research activities of the Riviera siblings drew the attention of not one but several shadow agencies who monitored them; at least one agent ("Dion") had tagged them as "Hansel and Gretel" in his reports. The situation came to a head after Stefka Riviera found her grandparents' graves in a graveyard on Moore. On a hunch, she did not embark on the outbound passenger DropShip Lusitania IV where she had booked a place under a false name. Her hunch was proven correct when the DropShip exploded after takeoff on 1 June 3135, killing all aboard; it is strongly implied the explosion was a direct attack on Stefka Riviera's life.

In the aftermath, threatening messages were directed against the Riviera siblings (and others, including Dion) in 3136 for "threatening the Five or the Master's legacy", strongly indicating a Word of Blake remnant as the origin.[2]

Another faction had one agent "Dion" sent after the Riviera siblings with orders to capture them, as they were a grave danger for themselves and others. Messages to Dion indicate Yeska Riviera, together with unspecified mercenaries, left Moore to join up with his sister.[3] As of 23 June 3136 Dion was notified that "Immortal Truth" had to be "Hansel", suggesting Yeska Riviera was "spouting off" messages under this name.[4] In fact, a message signed "Immortal Truth" and dated 05 May 3136 had called out the "Cult of Apollyon", Dion, and Dion's handlers "Daddy Z" and "Art".[5]

Notes

 • In the Wanted Ad posted by the Republic of the Sphere the name is mistakenly given as "Yefka Riviera". Author Herbert A. Beas II, when asked, confirmed that this is a genuine error and should not be taken to mean he had enrolled under a false name, nor that there was a third sibling.[6]
