Force Commander Adam Spivey was a Free Worlds League MechWarrior, first with the Fifteenth Marik Militia during the Fourth Succession War, and then SAFE's Dark Shadows paramilitary unit.[1][2]

Spivey made his name as a young Lieutenant during the Fourth Succession War on Wasat with the Fifteenth Marik Militia under Colonel Jake Hawkins, during a battle with Tikonov Free Republic forces. When Colonel Hawkins established an extremely static defense with Spivey's lance on the east flank to cut off scouts, Spivey used superior mobility and tactics to keep an entire heavy company busy, while Hawkins was captured when the center of his static defensive line crumbled.
This ability and willingness to lead from the front earned loyalty from his subordinates, though some officers who didn't command in the same fashion considered him a troublemaker. His fellow warriors in the Dark Shadows, however, referred to him as a "man with no soul".[1][2]

Spivey was known to pilot a Hermes II BattleMech.[1][2]
