Overview[edit]
In early 3149, the Second Army Group in the Republic of the Sphere's Operation ERUPTIO, moving on from Quentin, raided the Draconis Combine planet of Towne. The Eleventh Principes Guards and Second Fides Defenders, seeking control of the still-working HPG, swiftly destroyed the defending Towne Guard and the local government.[1][2]
The RAF used the HPG to spread disinformation to nearby Combine systems. As well, choosing not to leave a proper garrison, they sought to turn Towne's population against the Combine. Republic forces encouraged dissent and promised support, hoping that any attempt by the Combine to retake the planet would face an insurgency.[1]
Aftermath[edit]
The collapse of the local government plunged Towne into civil war. Conflict between supporters of the Republic and those of the Combine continued through at least December 3149, by which point terror attacks on medical supplies had led to a planetwide Hyborian Blood Plague outbreak.[2]
