History & Tactics[edit]

Davis Strauss was a MechWarrior on Solaris. In 3132 he was one of the contenders in the Grand Tournament and ranked eighth.[1]

Davis Strauss won the first, second and third round matches.

On day three of the Tournament, he might have participated along his stable mate in a tag-team match with Gerald Taylor III‎ against Zelazni Stables' gladiators Jerry "Heat" Seeger and Olivia "Queen Liv" Tyler. The match drew most of the crowds of the third day of the Grand Tournament. His Stable lost, and there was a lot of controversy when Olivia Tyler ambushed Gerald's Griffin from behind, demolished his gyros, and emphasized her victory with a chainsaw strike to the head. Though the Solaris Gaming Commission accepted her explanations, that she had lost control of the saw, an explosion of violence in the post-fight review broke out as well between Tyler and Strauss. The two warriors, who are set to face each other in the fifth round if they eliminate all their opponents, exchanged bitter insults and nearly came to blows before security from both stables managed to separate them.

He also won his fight on the fourth round of the tournament, same as his nemesis, and everybody was ready for the fight round match between them.[1]

Tyler and Strauss outdid each other during this year by inciting a miniature riot at the infamous Thor's Shieldhall nightclub in Solaris City's Silesia district[2]. Strauss was already in after winning his match when Tyler walked into Valhalla. Though Jeremiah Daelun, Blackstar Stables stablemaster, said "Queen Liv" started the fight by mocking his tag-match against Gerald Taylor III, but she got about as far as saying Strauss would be next before the punches started to fly. The pandemonium that broke out when Tyler and Strauss crossed paths during the fight was the worst seen in decades. Despite the best efforts of club security, the fighting spread into the Shieldhall itself as fans polarized around the two struggling MechWarriors, and from there, spilled into the street. Tyler and Strauss both suffered multiple injuries and were taken in separate ambulances to local hospitals, which later confirmed that over fifty patrons, club staff, and bystanders in all reported injuries related to the riot, which also caused almost eighty thousand C-bills in damages.[3] Finally, both warriors were hospitalized for a day after the disturbance, which left an additional 57 fans, club staff, and bystanders injured; caused over 75,000 C-bills in property damage; and resulted in hefty fines to both warriors in addition to their immediate suspension from the tournament by the Solaran Gaming Association[2]. The SGA was also considering appropriate fines for Zelazni and DiNappoli Stables.[3]

Gossip though said that the disqualification was indeed a way to look good, as both fighters were not really in condition to fight the fifth round.[3]
