Description[edit]

The Dixon was introduced by the Free Worlds League near the end of the Star League era to head off violence arising from civil liberty issues. Operating as mobile police stations for heavily urbanized areas, it can carry over 50 police officers to any location they are needed.[1][2]

The airship's armor is not designed to withstand military combat. Some of these ships were utilized as command vehicles during the Marik Civil War and two vehicles were lost to Loyalist aerospace fighters.[1][2]

During the Jihad, the Word of Blake used some Dixon airships in attacks on civilians.[4]

Weapons and Equipment[edit]

The airship's primary antiriot weaponry includes four sprayers (two mounted on the front, one on each side), capable of pumping nine tons of water onto unruly crowds. Its secondary weaponry for antipersonnel/riot control comes in the form of four machine guns, three mounted on its nose and one mounted aft. The ship carries five tons of ammunition for these guns. It also has a pair of medium lasers for antivehicle combat, with one gun per side. Weaponry is tied into a basic fire control system.[1][2]

The ship is equipped to hold two infantry platoons worth of troops and light vehicles. Dixons have communication equipment to coordinate troops and work with other civil forces. It also has two searchlights, mounted fore and aft.[1][2]

Cargo Capacities[edit]

It has a nine-ton liquid cargo capacity and is equipped with a lift hoist; the Dixon has three light vehicle bays and two foot platoon bays. The troops and equipment are unloaded through three doors found on the nose and both left and right wing sections.[1][2]

Variants[edit]

  • Dixon (Firetender) - A stripped-down version of the airship with extensive liquid cargo capacity.
