Dodds, presumably a Sergeant at the time, was a member of a lance of Prey Seeker on Fairfax when the Draconis Combine invaded in the last years of the Dark Age. His lance was tasked with deep strike raids behind Combine lines. They wreaked so much havoc with supply and transportation lines that an entire company of BattleMechs was tasked with hunting them down. Though eventually engaged and destroyed, their strike was credited with delaying the conquest of the world for at least three weeks. Though shot out of his Mech, Dodds managed to escape off world. For his actions he was promoted and assigned to the first lance of Prey Seeker in the Davion Light Guards. He found the experience of masters in high-speed Mech tactics seeking his advice as a brand new Leftenant particularly surreal.[1]
