Shamil Merzuyeva was the Defense Minister of the Azami world of Algedi as of 31 January 3072.[1]

Merzuyeva was Algedi's Defense Minister in 3072 when the Arkab Legions had just returned home to Algedi, in defiance of DCMS orders, and Kanrei Kiyomori Minamoto had deployed the WarShip Siriwan in an attempt to force them to return to their posts.
Merzuyeva issued a public rebuke and warning that the Azami would retaliate for the Siriwan's orbital bombardment of Algedi, which was followed by the Algedi government destroying the Siriwan with a pair of Peacemaker-class missiles with nuclear warheads.[1]
