Overview
The 322nd BattleMech Division was a part of the Star League Defense Force Regular Army.
History
The 322nd Division traces it's history back to a multinational defense force that protected Terra's Antarctic continent during the Western Alliance's conflict with the Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere in 2023[1]. The unit was assigned to guard the mining and scientific installations on the continent, but never saw any action. In the last days of the Terran Alliance, in the early 24th Century[2], the unit was sent offworld.
This understrength Brigade became the core of the Star League 322nd Division. Although not of Royal status this division became home to most of the inhabitants of the Antarctic continent who chose to join the SLDF.[3]
In 2764, the unit was assigned, as a part of the LXI Corps, Twelfth Army, to District 2 of the Lyran Commonwealth Military Region, but was moved to an undisclosed area of the Periphery.[4] The 322nd was destroyed during the Hegemony Campaign.[4]
In January 2779 the Division along with the Ninth Mechanized Infantry Division formed the spearhead of the assault across the Barring Strait and the drive into Alaska. A counter attack by two Divisions loyal to Amaris pushed the 322nd back, almost into the sea, with heavy losses.[5]
Officers
In 2764 the commanding officer was Major General Brittany Clarke.
Composition
As an SLDF BattleMech division the 322nd would have been formed from two Brigades of BattleMech regiments and a brigade of Mechanized Infantry regiments.[6]
