Unit Description
The 66th Division was a ComStar GomGuard military unit, which served through most of 31st Century in Lyran Space. The Division wbecame affiliated with Archon Katrina Steiner-Davion during later years of the FedCom Civil War and was annilihated on Tharkad.
History
Clan Invasion
The unit first saw action during the Battle of Tukayyid where the unit fought with its sister Division, 283rd in Forest's Edge against Clan Wolf in 3052. The unit succeeded in preventing Clan Wolf's forces for adjeiving their objectives. However, the Division suffered terrible losses in exchange of their action.
After the ComStar Schism, number of the Division's members defect to the Word of Blake in Free Worlds League. Faced with uphill battle of rebuilding the unit, Precentor Gustuv Garron retires in 3059 and hands commanand to Precentor Dag Kesselring.[1]
FedCom Civil War & Destruction
After taking command, Precentor Kesselring manages to revive the unit's strengths. The unit had been garrison on Tharkad to protect the HPG station.[2]
However, Kesselring minor Lyran scion has shown favoritism towards this old nation, had begun to associate with Lyran Alliance Archon Katrina Steiner-Davion by 3062. With this association, Kesselring had not been passing intelligence to ROM regarding Lyran's government activties. The unit's reliablity was downgraded to questionable.[3]
In 3066, in prelude to the invasion of Peter Steiner-Davion's Pan-Lyran coalition, Precentor Kesselring sworn public he and his division would defend the capital against outside forces.
The Division was finally deployed in March of 3067 as part of reserve force. As part of the reserves, they stayed back as bulk of Regent Nondi Steiner forces went on the offensive against her nephew's forces in the region of Tharkad known as the Wash. The 66th was pulled into battle when the 20th Arcturan Guards pressed 66th ComGuard. As Lyran Loyalist units were seperated, 66th Division held against the 20th Arcturans' superior numbers. However, pan-Lyran allies Aerospace Fighters straft the ComStar unit, helping the 20th shattering the 66th Division.[4]
Speciculation of Dag Kesselring's where about became rumored among ComStar ranks, suspecting him to be WoB Double Agent.
